                                        REMEMBERING THE KEESHONDEN

Florida Keeshond Rescue is pleased to provide a tribute to any Keeshond who has crossed over the Rainbow Bridge.  If you would like us to include a canine companion who has crossed the Rainbow Bridge to our Memory Page, e-mail your request to Florida Keeshond Rescue. Please be sure to include your name, your dog's name, and any other information you would like to add to your written tribute to be added to our Tribute Page.  We provide this service at no charge, but due to limited space, we space, we may have to edit your submission.

When I'm gone, release me, let me go.  You must not tie yourself to me with tears.  You  can only guess how much you gave me in happiness.  Grieve for me a while, if  you  grieve you must then let your grief be comforted by trust. And then when you  must  come this way alone, I will greet you with a lick and bark, "Welcome Home."

While I must leave you for a little while, please do not grieve and shed tears and hug your sorrow, but start out bravely with a smile.  For my sake, live on and do all things the same.  Feed not on loneliness, but fill each waking hour in useful ways.  Reach out your hand in comfort and cheer and I, in turn, will comfort you and hold you near.

                                    GONE BUT NOT FORGOTTEN:

CURRENT YEAR:

"Austin" Austin was always a very special, sweet Keeshond whose family  loved him and gave him a great life.  Sadly they had to let him go due to a tumor and its complications.  Rest in peace Austin, forever loved.  Hollikees 3/24

"Nellie" Our hearts go out to Jean and Ron as they mourn the loss of their sweet, beautiful Nellie. We are grateful to them for the live and wonderful life they gave Nellie. Hollikees 4/24

"1998 THROUGH 2023

"Wolfe" Sadly, cancer claimed Wolfe in November 1998.  She was a 13 year old Keeshond and an important member of the Stone family.  She gave the family much happiness and all she asked for in return was love.  She was a special dog and the lives of those she left behind will never be the same without her.  She was smart, intelligent, loving and more than a dog to her family.  She will be missed always in the Stone household.  The Stone house is now empty.  Wolfe, we love you.    Jim & Becky Stone.

"Keesha" Cancer has also claimed the life of 10 1/2 year old Keesha.  She left Debi and her husband on October 6, 1998.  Keesha was a family member whose presence is sadly missed.  Keesha and her daddy shared daily evening walks.  She can never be replaced and will always be remembered.  Debi.

"Smokey" Smokey, born Halloween 1988, died of liver cancer March 27, 1999. Smokey's daddy left his wife, three children and Smokey on August 28, 1998 at age 37. Now Smokey and her daddy are together once again.  Smokey was the best, loyal, intelligent, loving and obedient dog anyone could have.  Her smiles will be forever etched in our memory.  We will miss you Smokey.  It will not be the same here without you.  Wendy Weaver, Matthew, Michael & Michelle.

"Bushy Tail" Bushy Tail possessed a wonderful spirit and truly loved her human family.  She was also the proud mother of Sugar and Dumpling.  She left her family in July 1996.  She was my best friend who touched my life and gave me true happiness.  I will always love her and I know that some day we will be reunited.  Jennifer Klein.

"Beejou" She will not go quietly, the Beejou who shared our lives; In subtle ways she lets me know her spirit still survives.  Old habits still can make me think I hear her at the door;  Or step back and call to her when I've drop a tasty morsel on the floor.  My feet still go around the place her food dish used to be;  And, sometimes, coming home at night I miss her terribly; And although time has brought a new friend and a new food dish to fill;  That one place in my heart belongs to her and always will. I miss you Beejou.  Kathleen Brett.  Beejou crossed the bridge October 1997 at age 13.

"Duke"  Duke was the biggest part of our home. It was the saddest day of our lives, Friday July 23, 1999, when Duke went to sleep. He was 15 years old and had given so much to this family. Our home feels so empty without him. Knowing that he is without pain is the only comforting thought. We never thought of him as a dog, he was our son. He will always be remembered and can never be replaced. Duke, we love you and will miss you terribly.  Marc, Michele and your "Uncle" Derek.

"Bessie"  You came into our lives and brought a ray of sunshine.  You became our best friend and were always there when we needed you.  Tragedy took you away long before your time and now there is a hole where you once were.  Bessie, we love you and always will.  God bless you for the time we had, short as it was.  Take care and Peace be with you.  Amy, Drew, Khristian, Michael and Pongo.  Bessie died July 1999.

"Shanghai" Shanghai was a special friend to the Kaye family until he crossed the Rainbow Bridge in 1996 when he died of bone cancer.  He will always be remembered as the best friend anyone could ever have.

"Tasha" Tara's Tasha of Bartgis Manor (1982 - 1996).  My first and only dog ever, who stood by me when things were rough, who played with me when I was lonely, and watched me grow from a baby into a young adult.  I will never forget you Tasha, and you will always stay in my heart.  I hope you are waiting for me at the Rainbow Bridge so we can be together again and so that we will both re-live the best times of of our lives when everything was perfect and unspoiled and we were full of vigor and our hopes were high.  I love you Tasha.  Rest in peace.  Your Best Friend - Heather.

"Keester" We lost our best friend Keester two weeks before Christmas 1999.  He was 16 years old.  He was in our lives all those years.  He is greatly missed. We love you Kees and rest in peace.  Linda and Dick Hebron.

"Kashmere" We lost a piece of of our hearts the day we had to put you down.  You gave us so much happiness and joy but you were taken from us too soon.  We miss you, our friend, and hope that you are now free from pain and waiting for us at the Rainbow Bridge.  Kashmere died of cancer on November 11, 1999, at the age of six years. Lucy and Andy Alba.

"Kinch" God has chosen to take you to a better place over the Rainbow Bridge.  Thank you for being there when I was alone, when I was hurting and during the good times.  Thank you for the happiness you brought to us all and for the unconditional love you shared.  Thank you for keeping my grandmother company and for putting up with my little cousins.  I pray to God you are by His side and I promise we will be together again.  You will never be replaced in my heart, my baby Kinchie.  I love you and I miss you so much.  Kinch, age 11, died of cancer April 12, 2000.  Carlos Lopez Estrada.

"IV" IV, one of our three Kees, died peacefully in her sleep on July 2, 2000.  She had recently celebrated her 14th birthday with song and cake.  We will always remember her chasing butterflies, singing for cake at birthdays and for making our home more lively with her outgoing personality.  She is now at the Rainbow Bridge patiently waiting for us.  We hope she has butterflies to chase and has found our KD and her sister Keesha. HolliKees 7/00.

"Gismo" Gizmo was the best buddy anyone could have.  He was born December 17, 1987.  Gizmo was the third child in our house and a big part of our family.  After Gizmo began having seizures, he was taken care of just like any other family member.  At twelve and one-half years of age, on August 5, 2000, Gizmo left us.  It was the saddest day of our lives.  We will meet again at the Rainbow Bridge and then we will all be happy.  We miss you and love you, Gizmo.  Barbara, Kevin, Kaitlyn & Keriann.

"Rocky" Our family gave up one of our very best friends on Sunday, September 24, 2000.  Rocky joined our family a little more than nine years ago while just a puppy. We miss him so much and all of us are heartbroken. We will never forget him sledding with us, hunting Easter eggs (guess who found the most!), and just being a buddy to us all. We love you Rocky! David, Jackie, Jacob and Zachary Pratt.

"Keesha" Keesha, IV's sister, is now without the pain caused by the lymphoma that caused her much pain and discomfort.  She crossed the Rainbow Bridge on March 9, 2001.  We will miss her always but we have comfort in knowing she is now with her sister IV chasing butterflies and playing games.  Keesha, your sissy IV will now take care of you until we all are together again.  HolliKees 3/01.

"Jeckyll" Jeckyll was put to sleep on February 26, 2001.  His liver was failing and Scott and Debra Norman did not want him to suffer.  Jeckyll once saved Houligan from choking and warned the family of a fire next door.  He is missed by Scott and Debra, Houligan, and his Grandma and Grandpa Brown.  He was a very special and intelligent friend.  There will never be another Jeckyll.  He was one of a kind.  Scott and Debra Norman.

"Bandit" Bandit was my warrior dog, my ever present, ever loving, always protecting and guarding Kees.  He was a fearless warrior and was the man of the house when my husband traveled.  How much of a hole he left in my heart is indescribable.  I held him as he was put to sleep.  It was so sad, but he had done his duty and was tired, so I let my friend go.  I will see him in another time.  I know he will be waiting for me.  Much love to my beautiful warrior Bandit.  Karen and Michael Hamm.

"Sasha" Sasha was a 5 to 6 year old Keeshond mix who died January 21, 2001.  She was rescued  by the Hurleys who gave her tons of love.  Sasha was abused early in life and returned the Hurley's love and became a wonderful companion to the family.   Of the four dogs, Sasha was the only one who would not allow anyone inside the fence or the house without permission.  She is dearly missed.  We miss you Sasha Girl.  John and Sheila Hurley and the kids.

"Teddy" Teddy was a stray that was found in a park near Fort Lauderdale in November 1994.  He was rescued by Dan Galvin who did not know that Teddy was a Keeshond until examined by a vet.  Teddy moved to Naples in 1995 where he had a big back yard with squirrels to chase.  Teddy died suddenly on August 14, 2001.  He is dearly missed by Dan Galvin.

"Cody" Cody was a Keeshond mix that crossed the Bridge in October 2001 at age 13 due to cancer.  He learned to bark "I love you."  Melissa also lost "Rocky" a Keeshond, to cancer in 1999.  Both Cody and Rocky were loyal companions and made Melissa feel safe.  They are deeply missed but will always remain in Melissa's heart.

"Keashea" Keashea was born October 25, 1987 and died October 29, 2001 after a life-long battle with cancer.  We cannot describe the hole she left in our hearts.  She was a real trooper, always by our side.  She fought hard to stay alive but in the end she could not conquer death.  However, death did not conquer her.  Death cures all diseases, mends all broken bones, breaks all chains and made her free at last.  Keashea, we will meet you at the Rainbow Bridge, never to part.  Sleep softly, our dearest friend.  We love you and miss you very much.  Your Mom and Dad, Lois and Vern.

"Chrislin" Chrislin was born March 7, 1987, our wedding day.  Her name is a combination of Chris and Linda.  She left us February 2, 2002.  She was a bright and happy little girl always wanting only to please.  She was never sick a day in her life until last December when she developed pancreas problems.  I had hoped she would make it to her 15th birthday but it was not to be.  This March 7th, our wedding anniversary, I will instead celebrate her life with us.  I will never, never forget your smiling little face Chrislin, I love you.  Linda.

"Mia" Although no longer here, Mia lives on in the hearts of Dee and Kaitlyn, her loving family.  Mia was a very sweet and gentle soul.  Because of Dee and Kaitlyn, Mia finally knew the blessing of genuine love and kindness, unconditional care and devotion.  She may have had the body of an old dog but her heart was young and full of love and sweetness.  We thank God for the gift of her presence in the lives of those who knew and truly loved her.   We pray that Dee and Kaitlyn will be blessed with peace in their hearts knowing that the hand of God touched Mia’s life in love through them and that Mia is now with God.

"Max" Maximillion, you joined us soon after you were born in August, 1988.  We know you were not feeling good and you left us suddenly in March, 2002.  We were blessed to have you as part of our family for over 13 1/2 joyful years.  Through thick and thin your love, gentleness and enthusiasm were always with us.  We know you are in a better place but we miss your smiles and devoted companionship.  You filled our hearts in so many ways and will always be our puppy dog.  We will always love you.  Jim and Georgiana.

"D.D." For Flying Dutchman's Dream (D.D.), who blessed me with her presence and who left an impact so powerful that Keeshonden.org became a dream, a reality and always an obsession.  With only a human as her messenger, it truly was her spirit that created that site.

"Bella" Bella was rescued from a shelter on April 28, 2001.  Bella instantly bonded with us as she knew she had a new family and home.  We grew to love her more with each day that passed and found immense happiness in her affectionate and playful personality.  She could not have been a more perfect friend and family member.  On July 2, 2002 she was suddenly taken from us at the young age of two in a tragic accident.  There are no words to describe the love and longing we feel for our precious Bella.  Although we shared her life for such a short time, she has touched and changed our lives in ways that we never thought possible.  She holds a permanent place in our hearts and will be loved and missed forever.   Jason van der Steen & Nicole Cornwell.

"Rudi" We lost our best friend and family member, Rudi.  Rudi was a 7 year old male Kees that suffered from incurable medical conditions.  We had been treating him since age 3 for an auto-immune disease and are thankful that we had him as long as we did.  Justin de Laski.  7/02.

"Jedi" We recently lost our beloved 9 year old Kees, Jedi, to cancer.  Jedi was our 3rd Kees who we adopted from an animal shelter.  He had quite a number of medical problems throughout his life, but was just a joy to have around.  Pam and Mike Svendsen.  8/02.

"Sampson" My parents brought Sampson home when I was two years old.  For the past two years Sampson began to deteriorate - his kidneys began to fail and he was developing Alzheimer's Disease.  He would walk around in circles for hours on end and finally lay down and let out a big sigh of relief.  The night before we put Sampson to sleep he was up all night crying and whimpering in pain and did not sleep at all. We made the decision that it was time for him to go to a better place.  My Sammy was put to rest on August 29, 2002 at the age of 17.  Nicole, Tom, and Dolores Hayden.  9/02.

"Katie" Katie was the beloved companion of Jeff and Donna.  Katie passed away suddenly due to heart related problems.  She is sorely missed by the family which includes her sister Keesha and her adopted cousin Keela.  10/02.

"Kipper" Kipper, our first adopted rescue Kees, crossed the Rainbow Bridge on October 6, 2002.  She was a small dog but had a great big heart and came to us shortly after we lost our K.D. She will always be missed but we have comfort in knowing she is now with K.D., I. V., and Keesha.  She always gave more than she took.  We are forever grateful for having her in our lives.  HolliKees.  10/02.

"Kalli" Kalli, our 7 year old brown-eyed girl, crossed over the Rainbow Bridge on October 20, 2002.  She was suffering from cancer and is now at rest.  Kalli will be forever loved by us.  Her leaving us left a big hole in our hearts.  Kalli, we miss you deeply and we promise to take good care of your little girl, Kassi.  Wait for us near the Bridge as we will all be together again.  HolliKees . 10/02.

"Kayla" Kayla was my darling devoted friend.  I miss the way she held out her paw for more affection, the pink bows in her hair after returning from the
groomer, and I will miss her endless excitement to play.  She blessed me with her faithfulness and devotion.    She followed me every where.  She went home suddenly when her liver failed.  I have the hope of seeing her again at Rainbow Bridge.  Rosanna.  11/02.

"Wolf"(Der Dunst Wulf) You were the best of dogs.  You stood by us through thick and thin, good days and bad days, always ready to snuggle and lick away any tears that might fall when the world around us was dark.  For 12 wonderful years you gave us everything and you were loved by everyone who ever met you.  Not a day goes by that we don't miss you.  We know you are waiting for us on the other side of the Rainbow Bridge.  Rory and Deonne.  11/02.

"BucaMarie"On Tuesday, February 11, 2003, after a sudden and mercifully brief illness, our darling BucaMarie passed away in our arms, at her vet's office.  BucaMarie started to limp and have back pain on Friday, February 8, which progressed rapidly.  Tests showed a non-cancerous tumor on her spine.  She suffered a stroke on Tuesday morning, before we could decide about surgery and, on the advice of her doctor, we agreed to let her go, peacefully, with the people she loved and who loved her around her.  She was 11 years old and had been a part of our family since her rescue in 1996. She will be lovingly remembered and sorely missed by her Keesie brothers, Casey and Kio, Keesie cousin, Zack, kitty brothers, Babycakes and Buttercup, as well as her human family.  She was truly perfect.  2/03.

"Shadow" We are so sad our little dog, and my guard puppy, left us suddenly after his liver failed.  He was 10 1/2 years old.  How we miss him.  He was such a special boy.  Richard and Dixie. 3/03.

"Booda" Our darling Booda Bear passed away April 2001 after having massive seizures.  We had gotten her in 1988 just before we got married. She was a special girl who taught our youngest 2 children how to walk, never growling or snapping when they pulled too hard on her fur.  She never growled at the newly rescued Keesies that came through our door.  We will never forget that special girl. I still expect her to come slam her snout on my leg-demanding her share of attention.  Every picture we see, and some of our rescues look just like her...gosh, Booda, I miss you, baby!! Love, Mummy (Laura & Richard).  5/03.

"Possum" Sadly, liver cancer took the life of this handsome Kees. Beloved companion to Jada and Ken, Possum “Bubby” will live on forever in their hearts. Possum was always an exceptionally good boy and provided years of experiences that are now cherished memories to Jada and Ken.   Though we have only known Jada and Ken a short time, we have come to know why Possum loved them so. They were loving and devoted human parents and friends to Possum all the days of his life. In return Possum left them with an appreciation of and devotion to the breed. Our thanks to Jada and Ken for giving Possum the very best life any Kees could have hoped to enjoy and to Possum for being Possum. God’s speed sweet boy.  Jada and Ken.   5/03.

"Duchess" Beautiful and special companion of Fred. Duchess certainly left her paw prints on Fred’s heart.  She was a very sweet and gentle girl and memories of the good times she and Fred shared for 13 years will help ease the pain of this loss.  We’re sure Duchess is held very close in the arms of her Creator as she watches over Fred with love.  Many Blessings Duchess. 6/03.

"Keisha" Keisha, a 14 year old female, passed away on Thursday, June 26, 2003.  She was our angel.  My friend to the end I would tell her.  She was with us before our child, so you can imagine our sorrow.  Dinah and family.  7/03.

"Zouli"  You were always our little miracle dog.  A living symbol of the power of faith, hope and love.  After your accident, as a puppy, you were not expected to live.  But, you overcame all odds and lived 12 years, giving us so much love and happiness.  We prayed you'd overcome whatever was ailing you this time, but God must have needed another dog in Heaven.  He takes care of you now.  Thank you little one for your love and for all you added to each of our lives. You are forever in our hearts. We love and miss you.  Zouli passed away on Sept. 17, 2003.   The Giannet Family.  9/03.

"Mac" To us you were only Mac, the most wonderful dog in the world, but your AKC name, Ch JLC's Heartbreak Kid v Ryndam is appropriate too, for you were heartbreakingly beautiful as a young dog, and now our hearts are broken that you are gone.  You were so tightly bonded to me that you followed me everywhere - until your back legs started to weaken.  Worst of all was the canine Alzheimer's which caused you to walk endlessly in circles.  When the circles got smaller and smaller, and when you, who never, ever complained, whimpered as you circled, we knew it was time to say good-bye.  We love you.  Mac, and miss you terribly. Margi, Chuck, Erik & Anders.  11/03.

"DeeDee" DeeDee was a very special girl who meant the world to Judy and Patti.  Dee-Dee filled up their hearts and lives with love and joy.  Sadly, Dee-Dee passed away January 21, 2004, and she is greatly missed.   We pray that the precious and wonderful memories of the time they shared with Dee-Dee will help to ease the pain of this loss.  Rest in peace sweet Dee-Dee - you are forever loved.  1/04.

"Nikki" Nikki was adopted and became a beloved and cherished family member to Jane and Joey of South Carolina. Nikki won over her human family very quickly and will always hold a special place in their hearts. Nikki’s earthly life ended when she journeyed to the Rainbow Bridge on February 8, 2004 – she is greatly missed.  Jane and Joey are now blessed with their very own special furry angel to watch over them until they are together again in peace. Rest in peace sweet Nikki – you are forever loved.  2/04.

"Hannah" Thanks to this website we feel that maybe we know why we lost Hannah today.  She was treated for 3 weeks for bronchitis; we found her dead this morning.  We never expected this illness to end in her death, it was such a shock.  It seems many have passed from cancer.  We will never forget her "smiles".  She was Hannah Van Gyzen Woolard.  Born April 10, 1993.  She left us today, April 18, 2004, with broken hearts.  Dwain, Melody, Coty, Dillon, Dana.  4/04.

"Sheba" Unfortunately, Sheba lost her battle and crossed over the Rainbow Bridge on March 13, 2004.  We miss her terribly as she has left a tremendous void in our lives.  We have the blessed opportunity to give another unwanted pet a wonderful and safe home.  Though Bailey Boo has managed to fill some of the void, Sheba will always have a special place in our hearts.   She was our "Angel."  Norm, Camille, Matt & Brooke.  5/04.

"Miko" our friend, left us July 11, 2004.  Do not stand at my grave and weep.  I am not there, I do not sleep.  I am a thousand winds that blow.  I am the diamond glints on snow.  I am the sunlight on ripened grain.  I am the gentle autumn rain.  When you awaken in the morning's hush, I am the swift, uplifting rush of quiet birds in circled flight.  I am the soft stars that shine at night.  Do not stand at my grave and cry.  I am not there.  I did not die.  Miko, we will always miss you.  You will be remembered.  HolliKees 7/04.

"Paco" Paco joined us February 2002 and weighed 3 pounds.  He loved to run in the yard with the cats.  He carried them like he was their mom.  He always wanted to know what was going on and sat on the back of the couch looking out the window watching everyone.  When we brought our son, Matthew, home from the hospital and put him into the basinet, Paco jumped up to see what we put there.  He slept on our bed at our feet.  He loved walks and car rides and liked to ride with his head out the window.  Now he is gone, but will never be forgotten.  You were the best pet ever.  We think of you often.  We love you and we miss you very much.  Your family, the Dennards.  7/04.

"Lulu" Kahluhua Marie Hicks came into our lives February 1990.  She was a faithful friend who loved to give kisses and enjoyed to dance with mommy.  She was always there at the door when we came home.  Sadly, she was euthanized on Monday, July 26, 2004 at the age of 14 1/2.  We will never forget her.  She was our baby before our human daughter was born.  Kahluhua and Kes got on beautifully.  We will always love her and we look forward to seeing her again in heaven.  Love and miss you much Lulu.   Mom, Dad and Kesser.  7/04.

"Keesha" With sad hearts we share the news that this beloved companion of Michael and Kate passed away May of 2004.  Keesha was a sweet and special girl and for over 15 years she was a constant source of joy. The love this family shared with Keesha not only spanned many years but many miles. Even  though  the  family could not always be in the same state due to work and school schedules, the love each family member had for Keesha  was in no way diminished. Quite the opposite, it deepened. Such love never dies and we know that  Keesha will remain forever in the hearts of all who loved her. Peace to you dear Keesha – now held close to her Creator’s heart she is a very special angel indeed, watching over those whom she loves so much.  8/04.

"Foxy" Foxy was the beloved kees companion of the Grizzanti family. Foxy was adopted by this wonderful loving family and enjoyed a happy, healthy life with Mom, Dad and two human siblings.  Sadly, Foxy has gone to the Rainbow Bridge and is missed very much. The Grizzanti family were Foxy’s guardian angels on earth and now Foxy is their special angel in God’s care.  Foxy will live on in the hearts of her human family and will be forever loved.  God’s speed Foxy. .10/04.

"Silver" Silver was 15 when he passed away on December 26, 2002.  He had been suffering from an enlarged heart and seizures.  A cardiologist bought us a little more time but Silver died at home in my husband's arms.  He is buried nearby in a pet cemetery.   Lori Johnson. 10/04.

"Keesha" Keesha was adopted in 1991 after spending 4 months in a pet store cage and his spirit was breaking.  We loved him for the next 13 years until he died from Cushing's Disease complications in April of 2004.  We miss his gentle spirit, his velvet ears, his Keeshond "flop" to spread out on the cool tile, car rides and on the raft in the pool.  We miss you terribly Keesha and things will not be the same until we see you again.  Give our love to Sarah and the other babies who are also waiting there for us.  Love always - Mama, Daddy, Stormy and Norman.  10/04.

"Jessie" Remembering Jessie is not something difficult to do because she was indeed a very special little keeshond.  She was the beloved companion of Anthony and both enjoyed their many years together sharing love and walks to the park to visit the ducks.  Everyone who met Jessie knew instantly she was very special and so too was her caregiver who adored Jessie all the days of her life.  Be at peace Jessie – you are forever loved and the wonderful memories you’ve left for your Dad will be cherished as you were cherished while you were with him.  10/04.

"Shiloh" Shiloh, a 9 yr. old boy, passed away on October 28, 2004.  He had liver disease and a growth in his stomach area.  He was a wonderful companion and we loved him dearly.  Doni 11/04.

"Shazamm" Cancer claimed Shazamm  November 13, 2004.  He and his human Mom, Christine, were each others guardian angels for 13 years.  Shazamm fought the good fight and is now free from all pain and waiting for Christine in Heaven at the Rainbow Bridge.  Rest in peace dear boy, you are loved forever.  Your spirit lives on in Christine's heart.  HolliKees 11/04.

"Gretta" Always a smile on your face and you could never get or give enough love to your family and friends.  You warned us of the potential intruder prowling about outside, and we took care of that.  You made us laugh when I chased you through the house with Hershey kisses dangling out of your mouth once you discovered the secret Easter stash.  What unconditional joy and love you always brought to our home and hearts for 15 years!  We eased you to Heaven on November 16, 2004.  You will always be missed.  Mom, Katie and Jillian.  11/04.

"Valentine" Words can’t describe what a special creature this little girl was.  Through the health issues she had to endure, she was a constant sweet darling with a  gentle nature.  Although her eyes were clouded in later years, you could clearly see all the love she felt for her mother and father and her adopted kees brother Vegas. Val is happy at the Rainbow Bridge with Newton   with whom she shared much of her life and love.  Our hearts ache for our dear friends Vanessa, Richard and Vegas.  We know their memories of times shared with their beloved fur children will help to ease the pain of this loss. Peace be with you Val – you are forever loved.   1/05.

"Keesha" Keesha crossed the rainbow bridge at 10 1/2 after a long battle with cancer.  She was one of a kind, and my mom and I miss her very much, more than words or tears can say.  She was in tune with people and feelings, and  not a day goes by that we don't miss her.  We search for pictures of a slightest memory of her, to feel closer to what we have lost.  I close my eyes to try to remember her face, her pretty brown eyes, her beautiful hair, they way she howled when you walked in the door, and the way she ran in the yard.  She was a friend, and holds a huge place in our hearts.  Jennifer Larson 1/05.

"Keesi"
Our long time Keesi has crossed the rainbow bridge.  Our beloved Keesi was like a child, always went bye-bye, was  pampered at the groomers once a month and slept with us since she was a puppy.  The Carr Family 1/05.

"Timmy" Timmy  started his life as the runt of the litter and was in a kennel until he was six months old.  Donna and Andy adopted Timmy at age two.  Timmy enjoyed walks, rides and BBQs.  He was always there to greet us at the door.  When it was Timmy's time to leave, we were both there so he did not have to face it alone.  Timmy went peacefully with a smile at age eleven.  We had many years of happiness.  Timmy is in our prayers.  Andy & Donna 2/05.

"Smokey" Smokey passed away on his own terms and in our arms, his favorite spot, at the age of twelve years.  He was curious, loving, noisy, stubborn and kind - so true to his Kees nature.  He loved swimming, snow and food.  When he was one, he was stopped while walking on New York's Fifth Avenue and photographed for Italian Vogue.  Our  furry little boy is gone now and his smile, curly tail, and pranks are missed by the family.  He has joined Gekko and Sampson at the Rainbow Bridge, all romping in the snow.  We miss you terribly and will love you forever.  Lana, Andrew, and Alexandra 3/05.

"Kimo & Keesha" Kimo was put to rest October 2004 as a result of cancer.  He was a strong and sweet boy who loved to cuddle.   We shared rides, walks and ice cream treats.  Kimo loved to play in the Fall leaves.  Keesha was a companion to Kimo and four months  after Kimo crossed the Rainbow Bridge, Keesha became very ill.  Her hips were very bad and she had difficulty standing and walking.  She always loved to prance when she walked.  She loved to show off and was always nudging you with her nose.  She crossed over February 2005.  I am broken hearted.  Kathy 3/05.

"Joujou" Joujou was put to rest on January 13, 2005 as a result of congestive heart failure at 15 years of age.  Words cannot describe the happiness he brought to us.  He was intelligent and loving.  Not a day goes by without remembering those happy 15 years he gave to us - he was our baby boy.  We miss you Joujou and we will love you forever.  Mama, Dad and your baby girl Krissy (another Kees) 4/05.

"Amber" My dog Amber was the best thing in my life.   She was older than me,  for I am 13 years old.  She lived for 15 yrs.  She was a free pup in California when my mom got her and she loved us dearly.  And we loved her.  We will never have another dog like her.  Brooke Miller  5/05.

"Keesha" Keesha, beloved companion of Jeff, Donna, Keela and Keefer, is now at the Rainbow Bridge with another of the family’s kees – Katie.   Letting Keesha go was one of the most difficult things her family had to do but they loved her so much they always did what was best for her.  Keesha kept her puppy spirit even though her body could no longer keep up.  Peace dear Keesha.  Prayers of comfort for the family who loves you always 6/05.

"Tashi & Foxy" Tashi was adopted in July 2003 from a couple who could no longer care for her.  We brought her home to Foxy and they became best pals.  Tashi always waited for Foxy.  We lost Foxy September 24, 2004 and Tashi was lonely until we adopted KeeKee.  Today, June 24, 2005, we lost our Tashi Bear and we fear our KeeKee will be lonely.  We will do everything we can to make her happy again.  The Grizzanti Family 6/05.

"Little Guy" Little Guy was rescued by Florida Keeshond Rescue and appeared to be ill.  A vet determined that you had advanced cancer with tumors the size of tennis balls.  Rest in peace, Little Guy,  we care about you.  We are sorry for what you endured.  We will see you at the Rainbow Bridge.  Florida Keeshond Rescue 8/05.

"Santana" My beloved Keeshond, Santana died yesterday and I am grieving.  He was 13 years old and had his first seizure on his 13th birthday.  Although the vet didn't think that the seizure contributed to his death, he had 4 seizures days apart and died just 2 weeks later.  He was my best friend and I miss him so much!  Kaye 8/05.

"Bicardi" You stayed soft and gentle as your first owner named you, passing away at age 13 from seizures and finally a stroke. You loved to ride on the motorcycle or go boating with us.  We had many notes from the dogcatcher on how you beat him to the front porch.  He knew you could climb a chain-link fence like a person so you rode around with him and he dropped you off at the end of the day.  You loved to sneak out and go to the school to be with the kids.  You gave the widow up the street joy every Saturday for years when she fixed breakfast for you. You grew with our children and they loved you for it.  You will always be in our hearts. The Kay Family 9/05.

"Houligan" Houligan crossed The Rainbow Bridge on October 24, 2005 to be with his beloved Grandma Brown and his dog buddies, Jeckyll and Kubie.  Houligan delighted in walking, eating, getting brushed and snuggling with his mommy and daddy.  In his earlier days, he could scale the back of the couch like a cat and find the Vanilla Wafers his grandparents had hidden.  He was the sweetest and most loving dog a family could wish for.  Houligan will be missed by his parents, Scott and Debra Norman, his Grandpa Brown, his buddies, Moon Shadow and Mr. Poo, Country Brook Animal Hospital and many other family and friends 11/05.

"Nixon" From the moment I brought you home, I felt you would bring something special to my life, and indeed you did. For almost 11 years you gave me tremendous joy with your chipper spirit, unflagging loyalty and unconditional love. I miss you more than any words can ever say and will never forget you, my dear friend. See you at the Bridge. Love, David. 12/05.

"Ariel" The hearts of Jim, Becky and little Silver Keeshond are heavy as they face the loss in death of their beloved Ariel who was so much a part of their life.    Ariel made their life more enjoyable and gave them cause to find joy in her company.  They can remember always her determined spirit, grace and beauty.  Ariel was their fur child, confidant, playmate, cherished companion; and, true to her breed, always a gentle teacher.  As Ariel loved her family, so too did they share their love with her – unconditionally.  Sweet, gentle, special Angel Ariel -  remembered always with love.  Jim, Becky & Silver.  2/06.

"Shiloh" Shiloh was the much beloved guardian and companion of Debbie and her husband. They were blessed by many happy years together. Sadly, Shiloh developed a heart problem and at the age of 16 1/2 she passed away. Her family misses her and knows there will never be another Shiloh – she is now their special angel watching over them until the day when they are reunited and Shiloh is forever loved.  3/06.

"Smokey"  Smokey, you left us on 7/23/06.  We had 10 great years.  Our hearts are hurting now, but will never forget.  Kelly, our other Keeshond, misses you very much.  We believe Smokey had cancer in his lungs.  It  happened so suddenly.  Sleep my dear Smokey, you need to rest now.  We will meet again.   Love always.   Linda and Charlie Pa.  8/06.

"Dooley" Dooley, you were with us for a short time, but we will not forget you.  I miss our walks, your smile, our chats about how to be sociable, and mostly your sweet personality.  You are now where you can run free and play with the other animals.  There will never be another Dooley.  Florida Keeshond Rescue 9/06.

"Shadow" Shadow, your special smile, determination, adorable face and compact little body touched our funny bones and our hearts in a way that only you could do. Thank you for your kisses, trust and love.  Your God parents, special aunts, Kassi, Lucy and we will always remember and love you. Until we are together again. 9/06.

Love is stronger than death.
So I must be content to know that
love is not affected by death--
it doesn't end, it doesn't diminish,
it doesn't change.
Instead, love is immortalized
and eternalized through death.
And the possibility of that love ever
being damaged or broken
is eliminated forever.
I'll put my trust in love.

"Oscar" Oscar was loved very much by his family.  Everyone who met him knew instantly that they had just met a very special boy.  Dearest boy dog of his Mom Bonnie's heart, his passing has left her with such sadness.  We pray for peace for Oscar and God's comfort for Bonnie and all who loved her sweetheart boy dog.  9/06.

"Tripper" When we picked up Tripper from the loving care of Gwen and Tim we were amazed at how sweet and loving he was.  He would do this grin that we had never seen...not a Keesie smile but a lift up on the top of his mouth and grin...kind of like an Elvis/Eddie Money thing going on.  He was a perfect boy.  Never making a mistake.  As long as you weren't setting off fire-crackers or delivering mail though the mail slot...we eventually got a box, making delivery less tortuous for all those involved.  Tripper developed Diabetes and went blind and we never saw that grin again...but we knew it was inside.   Sadly, he developed cancer in his bladder and an exterior tumor.  "The poem ends as it began, I love my dog".  I don't remember where I read this but I know that if you are reading this now you understand completely.  Until we meet again...we love you, Ken, Carole and Sunny.  1/09.

'Kacey Keeshond' 1985-1996  My first Keeshond, you were the delight and love of my life.  You came to me as a 20 week old puppy.  You had been named Stokley, but I called you Kacey.  For 13 years, you were my constant companion and heart's delight.  From place to place and town to town, you traveled with me and made your home with me.  Age began to catch up with you finally you could no longer walk or see.  I had to make the most terrible decision of my life.  We buried you in Branford with my first dog, Ginny.  Dad built you a coffin.  I cried for months, and grieved for over two years at your loss.  You will always be my first love. Cyndena 3/2011.

"Max-A-Million" 1993-2003  You came to me as a rescue in 1996.  Someone had abandoned you to the confines of a back yard for years and left you there-neglected, unwashed, uncared for.  I took you in and had you groomed and cleaned.  It took months for me to get your skin to heal, and your shattered mind never did fully recover.  But stay with me you did.  You loved to be with me, as close as could be, and I did my best to assure you I would never leave you alone again.  Congestive heart failure claimed on April 15, 2003.  Dad built you a beautiful coffin and painted it green and white.  We buried you next to Kacey in Branford.  Cyndena 3/2011.

"Barhond Sunkiss Daggett "Shadow" 1995-2011. You came to me aged 15 months in 1996.  Your "birth mom" decided I was the right mom for you.  For nearly 15 years you were my constant companion and shadow at home and on the road, in good times and bad.  Death took you from me suddenly March 5, 2011 as I reached to snatch you back from the brink, but I was too late.  I held you in my arms and wept as you breathed your last, my old and faithful friend.  You must have known it was time, because we were at the house in Branford.  We buried you next to Max and Kacey and Ginny. Rest easy and run with the pack, fuzzy boy.  Cyndena 3/2011.

"Little Bit"  My Keeshond was 13 years old. He came to me when I lived in Michigan. Someone dropped him off in front of my house in the dead of winter. He was extremely malnourished and neglected. Although I had two other dogs at the time, I just couldn't part with him. I named him Little Bit because he only weighed about 20 pounds at the time. He was so thin, you could feel his ribs. That was 12 years ago.  He passed away April 16, 2011. He was my baby, and I will miss him terribly. Susan 4/2011.

"Sweet Cheech"  I found you sleeping in the middle of Hwy 17 in Eloise at 1 a.m., and you looked like a pile of Spanish moss. You were covered in fleas and dirt, so we took you home and made you ours. I didn't even know you were a Keeshond until you were four. I thought you were the most beautiful dog in the world, and you went with me everywhere. I love you into eternity, my sweet little Hond. Go be with your bubba, Lucky Pittweiler.4/4/11 RIP.
